Honey from the Rock

“I would feed you with the finest of wheat, and with honey from the rock I would satisfy you.” Psalm 81:16

The first blog article, written 90 days ago, is called “A Taste of Acacia Honey.” What has happened since then is both mysterious and revealing. Psalm 81 ends with the quote above but begins with these words:

“ Sing aloud to God our strength”

We have professed these words because we know by faith they are true. Though it shouldn’t be, what a surprise when we are shown them to be. In “A Taste of Acacia Honey” I reflected on honey as something which takes much effort to produce but supplies nourishment, energy and delight. The same could be said about education, and the willingness of many children to participate in this chance to produce a valuable end product motivates Nyaatha to try all kinds of new things. It also stretches us as individuals and opens up places in our hearts where God wants to enter with His strength. This work belongs to Him and we need Him to do it.

On June 28 Laurane from Michigan contacted me. She and her family had donated money in February for seeds and trees for the farm. Her grandson Milo, keeps bees and sells honey as aside job.

“I’m also interested in getting bees for them. Please check out what at least one hive would cost. Maybe I could talk Milo my grandson into helping.”

I contacted Sr. Angela and she responded:

“Morning. I tell you I count this as a miracle and answer to our novena. A group of us have been praying for Nyaatha’s needs. We are almost finishing the novena. I was just from the farm last week feeling a bit frustrated. On the way back I was wondering what to do and thought of keeping bees. I even stopped to inquire. Unfortunately they were very expensive for me and I didn’t have such money, so I gave up. Now see, isn’t this a miracle? I was completely stuck and couldn’t get an additional loan after taking one out for the poultry project, which will have to be paid back. You are right this is God’s project. I have been telling him to do something and bail us out. Now this is truly a miracle. Please help me thank them for this. I am so excited at God’s doing that I couldn’t wait to share this and thank God. Write asap. Praise be to God!”

In early July NROH sent out the Summer 2020 Newsletter. In it we introduced the new Bee Project which was literally days old. So far we have received additional support to expand to more hives and equipment to get started. It wouldn’t be a “miracle” as Sr. Angela declared, unless God intervened with His clear grace to make happen what would otherwise not happen. Unsuspecting individuals have been part of this miraculous process of grace, so that in 90 days what we have tasted we are now seeing. This is God’s work. He is a Rock who produces honey!
